In this bonus, special edition episode, we’re talking about 9/11 and how God meets us in the face of national trauma and personal loss. To help us walk through what it was like to work one of the 9/11 scenes and how she saw God’s provision in those hard days, former crime scene photographer for the FBI, Jen Combs joins the show!

In today’s episode, Jen:

  • shares her story about photographing the hijacker’s car a few hours after the attacks,
  • worked 18 days straight at various locations to photograph evidence,
  • opens up about what it was like to be a single mom whose job required her to go to work on the most traumatic of days
  • and how God’s grace met her in the horror and hardship that day in all the days since 2001.

Jen’s story is one of God’s providence, national trauma, and love. It was an honor to sit with her and to bear witness to what she walked through that day.

I hope you take away from Jen’s story these truths:

  • God’s goodness,
  • how He is El Roi, the God who sees,
  • and how He provides in daily ways and on the days when we have no energy.

9/11 is a day for which many of us don’t have words. May we honor and hold well the stories of those who lived, worked, and died on that day 20 years ago.
