1. What prompted the creation of your book Sister, Walk in Truth?

I’ve seen the popularity of the watered down self-help (self-esteem) gospel grow among Christian women over the last few years. I’ve also seen this self-help (self-esteem) gospel water down the true gospel of Jesus Christ. We can’t hold to both tightly, one must trump the other. Sister, Walk in Truth was created to begin the conversation of what is God’s best for me and what truth is that based on. It’s meant to get us in God’s Word and apply it directly to our lives, and the lies that are coming at us in Christian culture today.

2. There are so many great summer reads out there. Why should a woman pick up Sister, Walk in Truth?

Sister, Walk in Truth is so much more than just a non-fiction “self-help” book. It’s story- and Scripture-driven. There are two really great things about SWT:

The first thing is that everything is pointed back to God’s word and God’s best for us.

The second is that it’s not just one voice and one perspective you hear. This book’s authors are from all walks of life and experiences, each writers chapter is written by women who have struggled with that topic or who are experts in that area. I could never have written their chapters as good as them; they give a perspective that is based on truth and and experience.

These two points are what I’m most proud of in talking about Sister, Walk in Truth. That Scripture is well represented, and it’s not just one woman’s truth: it’s God’s plus fifteen of His daughters speaking into the spaces of their lives. It’s so beautiful!

3. How did you balance your personality type (Enneagram Type 7 – The Enthusiast, a type best known for chasing the joy) with bringing a book together?

What did you do to ensure you had what you needed emotionally and logistically to make this book happen?

I’m not sure I did this perfectly, but the book launched so there’s something to be said for operating using your gifts and personality, but also allowing God to make you move your booty to get things done even if follow-through and organization aren’t your best qualities! I have a really great God, a fantastic design and marketing team, and really talented women using their gifts to turn this project into a reality. I also think when other people are depending on you to function in the top wellness of your Enneagram, you do things you need to do to make that happen. Or maybe that’s just the 7w8 coming out in me.

4. I imagine that writing a book is a dream for you as a writer. What do you say to the woman who’s a nervous or fearful about pursuing the dream God put on her heart?

I’m a wild dreamer but not so great on the execution of things. But God in all His goodness refines me in a sweet way to get those dreams and turn them into real life things. It’s all a part of the faith struggle. Are you in God’s Word? Are you pursuing a relationship with the Lord through prayer and the Word? Are you aligning your days and decisions with God?

If you are pursuing him and allowing Him to mold you then step with confidence into those dreams He’s fostering inside of you. Trust your relationship with Him enough to know when He’s calling you out of the boat and when He’s telling you to wait on His signal. He will show you and lead you and equip you, but you must be willing to stay and willing to go.

5.What message do you want every sister in Christ to walk away with after she’s read this book?

I want each sister to walk away with this concept:

I am deeply loved, I am known, I am seen, I am provided for, I am equipped, all through God and His words given to us through the Bible and the Holy Spirit.

Anything that doesn’t line up with that concept is a lie that I can throw out as I walk in the truth of His great love for me.
