Today, we’re talking about how to give yourself compassion as you enter the fall. Over the next 10 minutes, we’ll break down three ways you can be kind, gentle, and gracious with yourself this back-to-school season (or really any new season!).

Be kind to you.

You’re a good woman going through a hard season in unpredictable times, and you’re doing it! You can be kind to you by:

  • recognizing what you feel at this very moment then asking your friend Jesus how He would encourage you right now.
  • acknowledging the reality of your situation, then asking yourself this one question: “What is the kindest and gentlest next step I can take right now?”
  • And telling your inner critic to “Simmer down crockpot.” (And if you wonder how to do that step-by-step, I have a free email series linked in the Show Notes that will walk you right through it.)

Remember you’re a human.

Humans are awesome and amazing. We are also limited, flawed, and have finite capacity. Doing All The Things isn’t for us to do.

Grace knows you are making the best decisions you can with incomplete and contradictory information.

Grace knows you are coming up with creative and partial solutions because ideal solutions don’t live around here.

Grace sees your hurting heart and longs to comfort you.

God knows you are human. He created you. He’s not surprised that you struggle, worry, fear, and don’t have it all together.

God will supply your every need.

God has abundant riches. He lavishes His love and His grace upon you. There is no need you have that He cannot meet.

If you’re homeschooling, the Lord will equip you.

If you’re back to alarms and carpool, the Lord will equip you.

If you’re wondering how to balance working from home with a new routine, He will equip you.

Tell Him what you need. Don’t be shy. Ask specifically for what you want.
