We’re talking about how to be kind to you when you start anything new. This could be a new season, a new job, a physical move… anything that’s new.

If you’re ready for a deep exhale as you feel the panic, grief and overwhelm of a new season, listen in.

In this episode, we’re breaking down:

  • What you’re feeling
  • What’s changing
  • And what’s true.

So no matter when you listen to this or what change is taking place — maybe it’s a promotion or a new homeschool curriculum or a dynamic at home like a husband who’s been working from home and is now returning to the office –I want you to be kind and compassionate to yourself.

But how? In the middle of all the craziness, it seems like we only have time to survive, not figure out how to be gentle with our hearts, plans, and people.

Here are 5 gentle + practical ways to be kind to yourself:

  1. Think of this new season as a science experiment.
  2. Remember that you will figure it out.
  3. Draw boundaries.
  4. Reach out to friends who will help you verbally process what you’re feeling and who don’t believe they need to fix it.
  5. Take a pause.
  6. Align your priorities with your reality.

Key Quotes

  • The tears you cry in your most grief-afflicted moments are liquid words telling you what’s most important.
  • Grief comes to each of us at different rates of speed; it’s not a linear process.
  • Please don’t devalue your loss and look for ways to downplay it or say it doesn’t matter.
  • God goes before you. He walks with you. He hems you in from behind. And He lives within you.
  • God’s grace covers all your mistakes and He fills in the gaps for you.
  • He has gone ahead of you, knows exactly what you need, and created good, good plans for you.
